"Conner" Click here to see his pedigree.
Connor is a handsome 2 year old Thoroughbred colt - soon to be 3 years old.
He stands 16.1 hands and definitely still growing! This guy has a great athletic build for being so young and having not raced.
Conner is a colt, not a gelding at this time.
He has no vices.
He has some chips in the upper and lower joint of his knee, probably a result of not being mature enough yet physically to handle the rigors of becoming a racehorse. (X-rays are available.)
Connor is a Kentucky bred by Congaree out of a Mr. Greeley mare. He is described by those who work with him on a daily basis as a well behaved individual. He has good manners under saddle too, with no vices. Connor has a current coggins and is up to date on his vaccinations
He is located in at Laurel Park in Laurel, Maryland. For more information, please contact me.
"Sushi" Click here to see his pedigree.
Sushi is a 14 year old Thoroughbred gelding, and he stands 16.2 hands.
He has spent a few years now being an outrider pony at the Maryland tracks (those are the guys who catch the loose horses!)
His owner loves him and would like to see him move on to a more relaxing lifestyle!
Sushi is a star at whatever he does.
He raced 82 times and brought home $238,148 with 17 wins.
He has had a very successful career as a pony horse and he really has done it all!
Sushi is sound (he does have a bumpy looking knee that has been that way since his baby days!) and high withers that need extra protection when saddled. He is a good boy, whether shipping, turned out or riding and he loves friends too. Sushi is stabled at Laurel Park Racetrack where he can be seen.
"Lady"
Click here to see her pedigree.
Lady is a 5 year old Thoroughbred mare who stands 16.2 hands and is very beautiful!
She has raced 26 times winning 2, and is sick of the racehorse lifestyle and really needs to move on to a new life.
Lady is excellent when turned out and a pleasure to work with on the ground. She was recently rested on the farm for two weeks. She has no vices.
She is high strung and uptight when ridden at the track, it seems to cause her stress and as a result she is 'body sore'. Lady has good sound legs and seemingly would benefit from a lengthy rest!
This lovely girl
would also be an terrific broodmare prospect also. She is a Kentucky bred by
Five Star Day out of a Charismatic mare. She last raced 8/29/10. She has a
current coggins and vaccinations. She is located at Laurel Park in Laurel, Maryland. For more information, please contact me.
"Oster"
Oster is 4 year
old unnamed Thoroughbred gelding. His Dam is Prairie Pioneer & His sire is
Bowman's Band He stands 16.3 hands with a GREAT disposition.
He loves people,
lots of attention, baths, and to be groomed
Gets along wonderfully with other horses and is a great babysitter for all horses, including weanlings and yearlings (he recently watched over an orphan foal- thus the reason why his tail is so short)!
Oster is located in Owings Mills, Maryland. For more information, please contact me.
"Disco" Click here to see her pedigree.
This is Disco Glitter. She is a two year old registered Thoroughbred by Disco Rico out of Fourth Quest.
She is about 15
hands right now but being young she may grow a bit. She has never raced and
really was just breezing short distances, so has not become very racey yet.
Unfortunately she
came back form a gallop lame. Xrays show a fracture at the top of the sesamoid
in the right front ankle. This is not a fracture that can be operated on. It
should heal fine with time for her to be a pleasure horse.
Disco is located at Laurel Park in Laurel, Maryland. For more information, please contact me.
"Pumpkin" Found a Home Click here to see his pedigree.
Pumpkin is a great horse, needing only to have a consistent owner that he can grow with. He is 15.3 hands and 7 years old.
He is an easy loader and an easy keeper, living on pasture grass and a half scoop of basic feed morning and evening, in summer.
His teeth are good
and the owner has never had a vet bill other than vaccinations (on which he is
up to date). At present time he is without shoes. He has lived out year round,
with a blanket in winter, He is smart, and has personality, hence I believe that
developing a relationship with the right owner--an intermediate rider-- will
result in a very fine horse.
His owner must
rehome him due to her health issues. She writes, "He is very steady, with
a good trot and canter, and I have ridden him western and sidesaddle as well as
English, without a problem. He will stand very steady to mount--infact one day
the girth was not tightened and the saddle rolled under him--he still just stood
there, tho he did turn his head to look at it, somewhat curiously!. He is, in
fact a very likeable fellow, It takes no time to train him, and he doesn't
forget. He loves to be groomed--which is what I can still do Nothing
spooks him. In fact he was perfect for me--I just can no longer discipline him
or train him or even, for the past year do more than step in the stirrup."
Pumpkin is located in Sparks, Maryland. For more information, please contact me.
"Frisky" Click here to see his pedigree.
He's Back!!! Frisky Spider is back on the Leighton Farm website, but this time things are different. He's located here at Leighton Farm.
I always wondered what it would be like to ride Frisky and now I know. It was a dream ride. No one had ridden him for two years when we filmed my first ride!! Now, I will admit he needs training, but WOW is all I can say.
Frisky does have a condition with is eyes. While his vision is not impaired, he will need forever eye care and anytime he receives annual shots or is wormed he has to be pre medicated or it inflames the eye issue. Okay, so no one is perfect. Frisky does have one vice, he is a cribber, however this is controlled by a strap. Frisky is turned out with one other gelding at night and they have become fast friends. What I'm trying to say is that even though he is a colt, he gets along well with others. He does know what mares are though - he is "all boy".
His owner is willing to castrate him for the right home if we don't find him a spot as a stallion. He would make a fabulous ride. With that movement, he is totally smooth in all his gaits.
Frisky is located at Leighton Farm in Upper Marlboro, Maryland. He is looking for the perfect home! For more information, please contact me.
"Joey" Found a Home Click here to see her pedigree.
Joe's Gals Way is a lovely 3 year old Thoroughbred filly.
She is 16 hands and still growing!
Joey has raced 2 times and is being retired
due to chips in her knee. X-rays are available. The vet feels that with 2-3
months of 'winding down' time, she will be ready to embark on a new line of
work. She is sound at this time. J
Joey is a Maryland bred, by Partners Hero out of a Distinctive Pro mare.
She has excellent barn manners and is very nice to ride. She carries herself very well and is responsive to her rider. Joey has no vices, ships well and is a friendly horse to people and equines alike.
Joey is located at Snapdragon Stables, in Queen Anne, Maryland . For more information, please contact me.
"Sachem" Click here to see his pedigree.
Sachem is an incredibly special horse. He is one of the smartest horses his human has ever dealt with, and she has been around many, many horses. He’s a 16.0 gelding, 13 years old, with no vices or health problems, other than his known unsoundnesses. He has a healed DDF injury in his right hind, and arthritic changes in both front fetlocks. Sachem needs a home where he can be a “pasture pet” or buddy for another horse. He’s probably sound enough for riding at the walk, but hasn’t been ridden since the DDF injury, two years ago. This guy has a real sense of humor. He’ll supervise any work done in his pasture, and rearrange the tools to his preference. He could easily be taught tricks and would love to do them.
Sachem loves to have things to do, and has always been very happy to try pretty much anything he's asked. (Except for having his mane pulled - that's RIGHT OUT!) When he gets excited in the pasture, he runs around looking like the Black Stallion - head up, neck arched, tail up and forward over his butt like an Arabian! He always makes me smile, and who could resist that face? Sachem is by Pembroke, out of the Linkage mare Coosawhatchie. Sachem’s done BN eventing, hunt trail rides, and been a "guest" horse for hacks. Sachem
started 61 times before he was 7 and was in the money 20 times, winning almost
$116K, mostly in claiming races at Charles Town. He emerged from his racing
career calm, sensible, self-confident and biddable, which says volumes about his
amazing mind, but also about his sense of self-preservation. He’s still full of
himself, and while well-mannered, isn’t for a novice horse-owner.
