Looking for a home

Any horse that's posted here are free to a good home.  We do ask that you make a donation of $150 to keep the program alive.  They are not being offered for racing.  Their racing careers have ended and they are looking for their next life.  Please take a look at our horses who are Off the Track or still On the Track as well.

"Forest"

Forest is a 7 year old chestnut Thoroughbred mare who stands 16 hands.

She last ran in early May and retired from racing due to being a bleeder. This should not be an issue for any other discipline other than racing and she is not offered for that purpose.

We rehomed her in June, but the placement didn't work out. Her new owner had questionable farrier care and had Scenic on pasture board where the other horses were beating her up. This obviously did not work well for Forest. She lost weight and has had a tough time.

She is now located at a foster home where she is being rehabilitated. We would like to find her a loving home where she will be properly cared for this time.

Forest has a lovely temperament and would make someone a very fine riding horse. She is also nicely bred, so that is an option as well.
She is a Kentucky bred by Forest Camp and out of the Scenic mare Second Chorus.

Forest is a cribber.

Forest is located in Harwood, Maryland.  Please contact me for more information.

"Premier Racier"

Premier Racier is a quality, bay Thoroughbred mare who is now 19 years old. She stands 15.3 hand and has been a broodmare for the last 15 years since she was retired from racing.

She gets along well with other mares and is an easy keeper but needs to wear shoes if she's going to be ridden.

She loves mints and carrots, is very sweet with people and is a pretty mover.

Premier Racier is located at Summer Wind Farm near Libertytown, Maryland.  Please contact me for more information.

Lois 4 year old gray Thoroughbred filly who is sired by Two Punch who is known for producing offspring with athletic ability, particularly jumping talent.

She is still in training but seems to have lost her desire to win so her owner would like to find her a new career.

Lois is sound and stands a solid 15.3. She is very athletic and a good mover and could do just about any new job.   She should however, have some time off to be let down before beginning a new endeavor.

Lois is located in Boyce, Virginia.  Please contact me for more information.

GT is a 4 year old Thoroughbred filly. She stands 16 hands and is still in training.

GT is sound but slow, this is the reason we feel she would be better suited to some other purpose.

She is very scopey and a good mover.

With a rest period for let down, she could do any new job.

She has no vices or soundness issue.

GT is up to date on all vaccinations and deworming.

GT is located in Boyce, Virginia.  Please contact me for more information.

"Rocky"

Eastbound is a beautiful bay Thoroughbred gelding who stands 17.2 hands.  He is very kind and 8 years old.

He doesn't have any vices, but has suffered from epm and we've treated him with Marquis.  His former owners did not treat him and allowed the disease to progress significantly before we got him here.  Consequently he has muscle atrophy and will need rehabilitation in the form of hacking in order to see how much he will recover.

We are planning to begin this in the next two weeks.  We are looking to either rehome him permanently or to find a foster to do this work for us.

We always have a long wait list to get into Leighton Farm and due to the long time commitment involved with Rocky, we would like to find someone to be his benefactor.

We have started hacking him around the farm and while is is weak, he is being a perfect gentleman.

If you are interested in helping with Rocky through either adoption or foster care, please contact me.

Eastbound is located at Leighton Farm, in Upper Marlboro, Maryland

Sky is a pretty 5 year old Thoroughbred filly.

She stands 16.1 hands has raced well now for 30 races with 5 wins, 5 seconds and 8 thirds, and earnings of $66k. Sky last raced on 8/31 and was purchased out of her race that day.

The new trainer discovered she has an ankle which has lost much of it's cartilage and has chosen to retire her now.

Sky has been in quite a few barns during her career and is now looking to settle into a forever home, ideally as a mom!

Sky is a Florida bred by Concerto out of a Sky Classic mare. She won her last race by an impressive 8 1/4 lengths exhibiting her big heart and desire to succeed perfectly.

She has no vices and is a good girl to work with. She has had to acclimate to many different environments during her career and was able to do so by being an easy going and pleasant horse!

She is up to date on vaccinations and deworming, and has a current coggins.

She is now turned out in West River, Maryland, please contact me for more information.

"Fannie"

Found a Home

Click here to see her pedigree.

Fannie is an unraced dark bay Thoroughbred filly.  She is already living on a farm, so the transition to a new home would be seamless.

She is 4 years old and 15.2 hands tall.  She is very sweet and attractive with very correct confirmation, but due to unsoundness, it is hard to determine what type of mover Fannie is.

She is a sweet filly born 3/17/08, by Strong Hope out of Miss Valid Pache (by Valid Appeal)

She does have Navicular disease in her right front foot. If nerved, she could be a riding/show horse.

If not, she would be a great show horse/pony broodmare.

Fannie is located in Libertytown, Maryland.  Please contact me for more information.

"Abby"

Click here to see her pedigree.

Absolutely Not is a 1987 Thoroughbred mare foaled who was foaled in France, but never raced.

Abby is still being ridden and has been ridden in a Western and English saddle.

She’s 22 yrs old, sound, in incredible shape, has done dressage, hunter shows and trail rides.

No health issues, but does have some scarring on her right hind leg from an old injury that left proud flesh.

She has a brand on her left shoulder with the letters MW. We’ve been unable to read her tattoo.

She has a lovely, sweet demeanor and would make a wonderful addition to your family as a dependable riding/trail horse.
