Key Positions –

Help us Build our Volunteer Team and Give Retired Racehorses a Future — We already have some of the best volunteers in the world, but we need to build a team to manage and cultivate new volunteers. Someone to organize and direct them to utilize their best skills. TPR is open to innovative and imaginative individuals with the drive to truly make a difference in the lives of so many. Thus far we have not been able to pursue college internship opportunities and workplace volunteerism programs because we have not found the right individuals to direct and coordinate them. TPR has so much growing to do and we have a fantastic core group of volunteers who are waiting to welcome new energy into our family.  Contact our volunteer coordinator directly to join her team at [email protected]
Fundraising Consultant — We are great at working with horses and finding them new lives when their careers end, but we don’t know much about fundraising. We have a great group of volunteers who need guidance on how to raise funding to expand our work to help even more horses. We are willing to do the work, we just need someone with the expertise to guide us and show us the way!
Fundraise for a Successful Charity, Make a difference for Retiring Racehorses — TPR has rehomed over 1,000 Thoroughbred ex-racehorses since 2007. The demand for our expertise continues to expand as does our need for resources to do this very important work. We are looking for an individual to lead and build our Fundraising Team and help us grow and expand our impact. You will have the opportunity to help a successful charity grow and learn about retiring racehorses and the new show and pleasure worlds we get them to.
Use Your Office Skills to help Retiring Racehorses while enjoying time on a Horse Farm!
You probably know more about office work than I do! That’s why we need you so very much. I am available to meet with you and go over our needs weekday afternoons or early evenings. After you understand what we need, you can make up your own hours! Come to Leighton Farm, home of TPR, enjoy the horses and help our organization expand and move forward to help even more retiring racehorses. Maryland has no retirement program for their horses – your help will make a huge difference!

Join our Events Planning Team – Assist in organizing and planning equestrian and fundraising events. You don’t need experience in the equestrian aspects, we can add that, we need your event planning expertise! Each year TPR has two key events, a charity horse show and an open house at Leighton Farm. We want to expand these, add more events by building a solid and diverse event planning team!
Come to Leighton Farm and help us with the Horses or Help Maintain the Farm — We need qualified riders who possess the skills to ride retired racehorses and show them a new way of going. We are willing to teach you our methods if you are willing to learn.  There is also a need for grooming and care of the horses for those with experience.  We also need help with mucking, leading in and out from the fields, and general care. In addition there is always plenty of work on the farm! Mowing, weed eating, general repairs and maintenance in a beautiful equestrian atmosphere.
Accountant for TPR — We are in desperate need of an accountant familiar with both the horse industry and non profits. This is not my strong suit but I have learned to successfully use QuickBooks for record keeping. We need record keeping advice, end of year 990 filing and help with grant specific reports including an operating budget. We are hoping to find someone with a passion for horses who is willing to help a non profit grow and expand to help more horses.
Grant Writing Consultant — We have learned a lot in the last few years about grant writing. One thing is for sure – we know that there are people out there who know the ins and out of grant writing. We would love to have someone to look over our shoulder by reviewing our work before we submit it. Give us tips and pointers on how to find more grants and how to pursue funding for specific projects. We are willing to do the work, but need help from those with experience in this field.
